Peer Review Policy

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Smart Computing undergo rigorous, double-blind peer review.

Process

  1. Editorial screening. Upon submission, the handling editor evaluates the manuscript for scope, novelty, and conformance to journal guidelines. Manuscripts that are clearly out of scope or that fail basic quality criteria may be rejected at this stage without external review.
  2. Reviewer assignment. Suitable manuscripts are sent to at least two independent reviewers selected for their subject expertise. Author identities are not disclosed to reviewers (single- or double-blind, depending on submission).
  3. Reviewer reports. Reviewers submit a recommendation and detailed comments. Comments to the author are forwarded; comments to the editor remain confidential.
  4. Editorial decision. The handling editor weighs reviewer reports and makes one of: accept, minor revisions, major revisions, or reject. Decisions and reviewer feedback are sent to the corresponding author.
  5. Revision rounds. Authors submit revised manuscripts and a response letter addressing each reviewer point. The editor may request further review rounds.
  6. Final decision. Accepted manuscripts proceed to production for typesetting and publication.

Timeline

Our target turnaround is eight weeks from submission to first decision. Actual times vary based on manuscript complexity and reviewer availability.

Reviewer responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to provide constructive, evidence-based feedback, to decline conflicts of interest, and to keep submitted manuscripts confidential. Reviewers may not share, cite, or use submitted manuscripts for their own work.
